Ross Taylor Enterprises Updated: 1/14/10 Piano Lessons Piano Lessons: I teach piano to children ages 7 to 17, from beginners up through the intermediate skill level. My fee is $30/hour if I come to your house, or $25/hour if you come to mine. Half hour sessions ($15/session) are usually more appropriate for younger children. Piano Tuning: I tune pianos for a flat fee of $60 per visit. I am not a piano technician and so do not do repairs, restringing, or regulation. But I can give your piano a very nice tuning, which usually takes about three and a half hours. You will be pleased. (Occasionally a piano is so old and so out of tune -- and especially if the strings are rusted -- that it cannot be brought up to concert pitch without risking string breakage. In such cases I will bring the pitch up as far as I dare and then put the piano in tune with itself. The end result is that your piano will sound in tune, but it may not be suitable for accompanying other instruments because it will be off from concert pitch.) My Musical Qualifications: I took piano lessons from the age of four up through high school and have played my whole adult life. I've also played the French Horn and have been in trained choirs most of my life. In addition, I have taken college courses in music theory and in church music, and have composed a number of hymns. I presently teach piano to my children.
